As I sit on the remote Caribbean island of Nevis, I wonder why the state of my country is not living up to it’s potential.  Nevis is an island that was first colonized by the Spanish, then the French and later the British in the 1700’s.  It’s unique because the island is an inactive volcano, so it’s very mountainous, lushy green, and you can drive around the whole island in 30 minutes.  Although mostly everything is imported to the island due to it’s size and location on the map, the island is extremely wealthy and self sufficient in terms of agriculture.  Most people on the island own their own home, and it is a standard to have your own home by the time you move out of your parents house.  There is no homeless population and very little crime.  The small jail system they had was a “prison farm” where the criminals pay their dues by working the land deep in the mountains overlooking the ocean.  Not slave labor, but more like rehab.   Nevis is nutrient rich; the land is fertil

In the beginning of this week, my friend missed a day of work, because his roommate had a seizure right in front of him. Hearing the story about how helpless my friend felt, watching his roommate drop and everything else that has been happening with his super healthy looking roommate who has 0% fat in his body, caused me to do some research about Epilepsy, first response and treatment, which I am presenting to you here below.  First of all here are the shocking numbers: 65 MILLION : Number of people around the world who have epilepsy. I was a kid when I was influenced by the words in the movie Poetic Justice: "I am woman phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, that's me" - it's crazy how a woman you've never met can change your life forever with one sentence. Women can carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and still smile... " if you have only one smile in you give it to the people you love", she sad. It made me think of my grandmother who was just like that.... " life is a bitch, you've got to go out and kick ass" and she did, they both did... We all have to go some day but even the trees n the birds will miss her.
